its not really which ones are most effective. its about shocking your muscles. if you continually do the same thing over and over, your abs will get used to it. you have to change your routine every now and then.

Not only are sit-ups bad for your neck, but they’re also one of the least-effective abdominal exercises you can do, according to a recent study at San Diego State University.

Safe Alternative: Bicycle Crunches: That same study found the bicycle maneuver works the abs and obliques 250 percent better than traditional crunches or sit-ups. Lie on your back with your feet up in the air, then bend your knees at a 90-degree angle. With your hands behind your ears, pump your legs back and forth while moving your armpits (not your elbows) toward the opposite knees.

If I say, there is no effective abs training, it will be har to digest you. You please understand there is no spot reduction or localised fat burn is not possible.

The mistake people make is to equate a high volume of abs training to slim waistline and well defined abdominals. The abs are going to look well only if the body-fat percentage falls. The development of abs will be visible only if if is not covered with adipose tissue. Abdominal excercise has got no significant afterburn to effect Basal Metabolic Rate and hence no effect on Fat Burn.

So, you have to concentrate well on cardios. Then do resistance training since the work out for major muscle will help you to reduce the over all fat in your body.

Hope you understood the concept of getting well defined abdomen. If not you are always welcome to write me.
