As for intensity, you should be doing cardio at a pace at which you cannot carry on a conversation without being breathless. If you can talk easily to a friend, then you need to speed it up a bit. You’ll know when you’re working hard

You should do at least 30 minutes of cardio followed by ab work, and weight training. You can use either dumbbells or weight machines if you belong to a gym. Some cardio exercises I recommend would be jogging, walking, cycling, swimming cardio machines (i.e.stairmaster, elliptical, treadmill, etc.). If you like exercise classes, that’s great. I do love yoga, but I take classes very infrequently due to lack of time.

Hi, if you are interested in learning what I do, please visit my blogspot. So many people asked me, so I posted it. Keep in mind though, that what I do, I have worked my way up to in order to continue to challenge my body and maintain my needed fitness level. If you are just starting out, you’ll want to start out smaller. You will quickly be able to add more and more as you become fitter and fitter. You should exercise at least 3-4 days a week.

Can you tell me how often and how much exercise you do to look like this? You look awesome! I feel overwhelmed because:
1. I dont know how much cardio to do (ie. running) and at what intensity
2. how often/how much time lifting wts
3. I see you recommend @ 10 min. of abs 3 xs/wk.
4. Is there anything else that you do ie. yoga?
I’m working on my diet but really dont know how much to exercise, how often and for how long, and what intensity. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi, if you can get outside on days that are a bit warmer, walking is wonderful exercise. You should do it for at least 30 minutes. Try to keep a brisk pace. For those days you just can’t get out, try some aerobics DVDs. You can take them out at your local library to try them out and if you find one your really like that suits your pace, you can buy it and do it regularly. You will have a lot of fun trying the different videos. Try Kathy Smith, I used to do her tapes and loved her.

I have quite a few other abs workout videos posted. Please take a look at them when you have time and develop a routine that you can do for about 10 minutes every other day. You will also need to do cardio exercises to burn excess fat and calories and for overall health and fitness.

i’m 14, and last year my waist was 26 inches, but this year, its 30, that really scares me. maybe its because i use my exercise time to study due to exam. so what other exercise i can do to slim down my waist ?

Hi, I recommend every other day for abs. There’s really no benefit to doing them everyday because you muscle needs the rest time in between to repair and strengthen itself. If you do about.10 minutes of ab work, you will easily exceed 100 and it will be more like 300. By that I mean in all the different exercise positions, not just regular crunches. Break your different exercises up into reps of 50.

Hi, it’s very hard for me to tell you what your ideal weight is because everyone is different. It would depend on your bone density and structure and how much muscle vs. fat you have. I don’t think weight is as important as how you feel and look. Weight is just a number. If you have excess fat, you will know it because when you pinch your sides you will have excess flesh. Then you know it may be time to cut back on the junk food and exercise more.

Great advice, maintaining good form really take pressure off of your neck and focuses more on the abs.

You can also try a variation of the sit up where you lie down on the floor in the sit up position, but you don’t raise yourself off the floor, you simply press your lower back into the floor and then release. This tensing and releasing technique tones your ab muscles.

Hi, oh that’s too bad. I wonder whether your problem could be poor form. Very often when people have pain doing sit ups, it’s due to improper form when doing the exercise, for example, pulling your neck forward to lift your body instead of using your lower back to pull you up. Please examine your form carefully to see if you can improve upon it. If you would like to try a different stomach routine, I do have videos posted that don’t involve sit ups that you can try.

Hi, I’ve had quite a few people ask that, unfortunately, I cannot think of anything else that could be comfortably used as a replacement. Sorry. Even a book wouldn’t really do because it kind of hurts the back of your head. The hole in the middle of the plate weights fits comfortably to the back of your head and is thin enough to perform the exercise correctly. I’ll keep trying to think of something and if I do will post it immediately
