When you hear the words “body building” Do you think about women and men with comical sized muscles walking around and posing for photos? Do you think of the guy who can lift a few hundred pounds all by himself? Believe it or not, body building is a lot more than simply changing yourself into humongous muscle man. Body building is a great way to strengthen and tone your muscles and to help you get in better shape.
No body building routine is finished until it is paired with a balanced and nutritious diet. When you think about it, this means that body building is just like all of the other forms of exercise. In order to truly be healthy you need to eat a balanced and healthy diet. This means cutting out the junk food and eating lots of healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and grains. Steer clear of chemicalized ingredients and high fructose corn syrup. These are terrible for your muscles. When you workout you are basically tearing down your muscles and then letting them build back up–healthy foods are key to making sure your muscles can do just that.
Set reachable goals for yourself. Trying to get super ripped too fast is a bad idea. Focus on healthy and realistic goals. Being able to meet your goals will help keep your motivation levels high.
Keep a positive outlook. The Little Engine that Could is more than a little kid’s story. It is a real thinking pattern. It could be the key to your body building success.
Before every workout you need to do a total warm up. Your muscles need to be stretched before you begin lifting or training. It is harder to tear or injure your muscles if you warm them up before your workout. It is much easier to exercise a muscle that has been stretched and warmed up than a muscle that has not. Cold muscles are resistant to exercise because they are stiff. Warm muscles will be loose and are more prepared for the strains of exercising. You don’t need to do an extensive or long warm up; you only need to do enough so that you are satisfied that each of your muscles have been stretched and are loose.
Body building has almost taken on a negative connotation in the last few decades. The fact is that body building is a totally legit type of workout and is a great way to get into better shape and increase your health. As you work to get healthy getting regular exercise is important. Your body and muscles need to be worked regularly to stay strong and to keep you as healthy as you can be.

“Hanging Hip Lifts” is one of the most challenging exercises for preferential activation of the “lower” abdominal muscles. The secret in performing this movement correctly is the rotation of the hips and a distinct pause at the top of each repetition.
Your abs contract on a continuum of graduated activation, in this case, from lower to upper. You cant totally isolate a specific region, but you can focus on it… and this exercise is phenomenal if you want to contract your abs from the bottom up. The key is to make these as slow and as deliberate as possible.

Don’t let the TV ads convince you to buy some bulky contraption that will gather dust in your closet, crunches are safe and effective! This video clip shows how to do crunches with varying degrees of difficulty based on your ability. Remember that ab exercises alone will not give you abs! If you have the best abs in the world they will be completely invisible if you are overweight. Aerobic exercise and proper diet are even more important than ab exercises in getting that sought after 6-pack.
Form is very important in crunches, many people do them incorrectly and end up working out their neck or hips more than their abs. Use slow movements and only use the abs. Concentrate on trying to raise your shoulders straight up towards the ceiling. Don’t worry about how many reps you do but focus on using perfect form. No whipping the head around or flapping your arms! This is not a sit-up either, the hips are stationary. Also important is to minimize any tension in the neck, I do this by very lightly supporting my head with my hands or the weight plate
The main reason to workout abs is because strong abs stabilize your lower back and shield you from injury but as a side benefit a 6-pack looks great!

Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

This is an advanced ab workout, if you are a beginning bodybuilder please see my website for some more appropriate ab workouts. Just a reminder, ab workouts do NOT remove fat. If you have a beer belly or love handles, you need to do cardio and have better nutrition – doing ab exercises will NOT help. Why do abs? Well, not only because a 6-pack looks really cool but strong abs are key for virtually every sport except tiddley winks. Ab strength is critical for hitting a baseball, whacking a golf ball, and especially in sports involving punching where most of the power in the punch comes from your core. Even if you dont do any sports, a strong core can protect your spine from injury.
Now, people get really confused about ab workouts – do you do them once a week or every day? Do you do high reps or low reps? First lets clear the air, there is no “right” or “wrong” ab workout, it depends on your goals. The abs are like any other muscle, if you want them to get bigger and stronger, you work them out hard with heavy weight and give them plenty of rest between workouts to recover. If you want a small, flat waist like a marathon runner then you do a few minutes of abs everyday with no weight and high reps. If you want a really muscular core like a pro bodybuilder with big ab ridges and deep valleys, then workout with high weight and low rep and allow 5-7 days between workouts (morph zoom). Alles Klar?
OK, so this particular ab workout is for people who want those big abs with deep valleys. Lets get started.
This is going to be a killer 30min workout and were going to do this every 5 to 7 days. We are going to do a five supersets with about 3 minutes between. Each superset is going to consist of the following six exercises.
•crunch at max weight (dead)
•crunch with 50% weight (dead)
•bicycles with 50% weight (dead)
•crunch with 0 (dead)
•bickcles with 0 (dead)
•side plank 2x
At the end of the superset, you are going to be DEAD. Now to prove I can take my own medicine, lets do a superset.
rest 3min, repeat. Many people make the mistake of taking it at first to save energy for the sets at teh end, thats a mistake. You have to give each of the exercises 100% effort as if it were the only exercise you were going to do.
