Time To Get Your Abs Truth Now – The Six Pack Abs Myths

Six pack abs seem elusive to some people. It’s time to get your abs truth now with avoiding the six pack abs myths. Here are some myths about how to get six pack abs whether they are true or not. If you want to have great abs and a great body, then you need to avoid falling into these six pack abs myths.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

People say the best time for getting serious about working on your six pack abs is in the summer.  They think that you will burn off the fat faster, because the heat will cause extra sweating – which leads to weight loss more rapidly when you exercise.

Hmm.  Sounds cool, but not so.  You really should exercise year round to get and keep your great six pack abs.  Your body works hard on building your six pack abs whatever time of the year, whether hot or cold.  This way you can enjoy the benefits of having great abs all year long!  Plus you will be healthier overall.

People tell you to avoid fatty food to get your six pack abs.

Not so.  You don’t need to avoid all fatty food.  Some fats are actually good for you – not fried chicken or french fries though.  Just avoid the fatty food that is not good for you.  Essential fat like that contained in olive oil, nuts, avocados, (to name a few) are actually good for you.  So make sure you include some of the healthy fats – just not too much.

People tend to think that you need to just work out on the abdominal muscles and reduce fat in that area to get six pack abs.  Think spot reduction.

Whoa!  You must work out your whole body!  One part of your body always helps out another.  If you have one area stronger that another, you’re just asking for trouble.  Besides, you burn off your fat more efficiently when you exercise your whole body.  Think more calories burned = less fat around your abs = more progress on those six pack abs!

How about working out extra hard to get your six pack abs faster?

Sounds good, but your body does need a rest to be more efficient in burning fat and building your six pack abs. Working out hard core four times a week is good.  Use the other days to do light workouts. 

Give yourself variety.  Do yoga and have more fun exercises on the off hard core workout days.  Flexibility is healthy for your muscles. Even go site seeing, hiking, playing with friends or your children, swimming, etc.  Have fun.

You will get to your goal of having great six pack abs.  You will also get a strong body overall while you are at it. I hope you avoid the six pack myths because having your Abs Truth Now is important to your health.

Many people dream of getting some really solid washboard abs, and they are willing to do a lot of things to reach that rippling physique via abdominal workouts.

There are, however, a lot of myths associated with such workout regimens – and they have the potential to cause injury if you do not correct them fast!

So without further ado, here are the five most common myths about abdominal workouts, plus the truth behind the myth:

“I will gain six-pack abs in a matter of days!”

Muscle development takes time, and nothing you do will shorten it down to a couple of days.

In fact, you will to doggedly stick to your workout program for about a few weeks before you can even begin to notice any change in your body’s physique. Anything faster than this is impossible, and pushing yourself to develop muscles by pumping iron three times for every day of the week is extremely dangerous for your health.

“I need specialized equipment to get six-pack abs!”

Telemarketers will deny it, sports gyms will deny it, but the truth of the matter is that you can get sufficient abdominal workouts using only your body.

Air pedaling, plain crunches, vertical crunches, side crunches and any other exercise that contracts the abdominal muscles are sufficient for building abs. Specialized equipment may help you focus exercise on your abdominal muscles, but they are in no way necessary to build and shape your abs.

“I have to do x crunches, y presses and z lifts a day to get six-pack abs!”

A common mistake people make when working out is to focus on repetition – not intensity.

Even a single set of intense crunches is more effective than ten sets of half-baked crunches. The mark of a good workout is the ‘burn’ that you feel when the muscles are stretched to their limits. Look for this burning sensation whenever you are working out, and you should be able to effectively sculpt your abs to perfection.

“I only need to focus on exercise to get six-pack abs!”

Bodybuilding is as much about diet as it is exercise, which is why you need to watch out what you eat if you want your muscles to develop properly.

This is especially true for abdominal workouts, as even a slight layer of fat will cover the abs and prevent them from being visible. Mix in the health and living complications of a poor diet, and you will only put your own body in greater peril.

Oh, you better be worried – muscles can atrophy if they are not used, and this is especially true for well-developed muscles.

This is not a one-time thing that ends once you achieve your desired physique. You need to keep going at it for the rest of your life. Otherwise the muscles will begin to lose their original shape, sag down and totally ruin your sculpted body.

Abs Training Myths Exposed

Whenever someone talks about training a specific muscle in their body, chances are high that they are going to be talking about abs training. Unfortunately, the truth is, it is highly impossible to only tone a specific set of muscles without following the right protocols.

Abs training is part of what is known popularly as “spot reduction”. In this technique, individuals are advised to perform muscle specific exercises in order to get toned and lean muscles. The individual is also suggested to intensify the workout progressively to get the best possible results.

While the suggestions are not entirely untrue, it is unfortunately not accurate either. First, you need to understand how the body. There is no way that it will let you focus on one particular muscle and make you look fit and toned by repetitively doing that.

Don’t get the wrong idea though. Crunches, leg raises and trunk rotations are all absolutely vital exercises for your abdominals, but these are not the only exercises that you are supposed to perform.

They are required to be performed in conjunction with other muscle building exercises if you want your abs to be prominent and showing itself.

There is of course the need to burn the fat that is hiding your abs. Without doing this, no amount of abdominal exercises can help you. A good intense workout session will involve burning a lot of calories and ensuring that you are doing the best for supporting your abdominal exercises.

Abs training has other benefits as well including strengthening your lower back, correcting your posture and reducing the stress on your spinal cord.

Hence, discontinuing these exercises is highly not recommended. Even if you are doing exercises only to maintain fit, strong abdominals are necessary to prevent injury and for improved flexibility as well as overall body strength.

The truth is, you can do two hundred crunches a day and still not get ripped abs. While crunches and other abs exercises will define your abdominal muscles, these muscles won’t be visible until you also burn off the fat covering them. It takes a combination of abdominal workouts, proper diet, and the right type of aerobic exercises to get six pack abs.

Myth #2: You have to do many different exercises to target ab muscles

In reality, as few as two to three exercises can hit all the areas of your abdominal muscles. You really don’t need to follow exotic routines or use expensive equipment in order to get great results. Research has shown that some of the simplest exercises are actually the most effective at targeting the abdominal muscles. Of course proper form is essential to maximize your results and avoid injury.

Myth #3: You have to run/jog/walk a long time to burn fat
