<p>It is very important that before you start any fitness program, or purchase any fitness gear, you must get a heart rate monitor.  This is a very important tool which will tell you if safe exercise becomes unsafe.  Your body will normally burn fat when it exercises, however if the exercise is to much on your body, then it will find that burning fat is not enough for it to cope.  Which results in the body burning muscle, this is very bad as your health will diminish if you start to burn muscle.</p>
<p>If you have a heart rate monitor, you can calculate the point at which exercise will become unsafe. This will depend on your age, but the final figure will be adjusted depending on your existing level of fitness. Stay below this heart rate figure as you exercise, and you will be burning fat, improving your level of fitness and your health at the same time. You will then be fully prepared to expand your fitness effort to strength and endurance training. </p>
